8 Days in Cairns & The Northern Queensland Coast Australia

Day 1: Welcome to Cairns – Embarkation & Sunset at Fitzroy Island

Cairns – Fitzroy Island

Your adventure begins in Cairns, the vibrant gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and the lush landscapes of Northern Queensland. Step aboard your luxury yacht, where your crew welcomes you aboard. As you settle in, the yacht glides away from the bustling marina, heading toward Fitzroy Island.

This lush, rainforest-covered island is a paradise of pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant coral reefs. Spend the afternoon snorkeling among colorful fish and sea turtles or take a short hike to the Fitzroy Island Lighthouse for sweeping ocean views.

As the sun begins to set, enjoy a gourmet dinner on deck, with the sky glowing in shades of pink and gold over the Coral Sea. The soft sounds of lapping waves and the gentle sway of the yacht create the perfect ambiance for your first night on board.

Day 2: Snorkeling & Diving at Green Island

Fitzroy Island – Green Island – Upolu Cay

After a leisurely breakfast, sail to Green Island, a 9000-year-old coral cay teeming with marine life. This island is a paradise for snorkeling, diving, and glass-bottom boat tours, where you can witness giant clams, tropical fish, and vibrant coral gardens just meters from the shore.

Following a relaxing morning, cruise toward Upolu Cay, a hidden sandbank in the middle of the reef that appears and disappears with the tide. Wade through the shallow, crystal-clear waters or snorkel in the surrounding coral reef, feeling as though you’ve found your own private paradise.

That evening, anchor in a tranquil bay and enjoy a chef-prepared seafood feast, with freshly caught prawns, barramundi, and tropical fruits, as the stars light up the night sky.

Day 3: Port Douglas – Sophistication Meets Tropical Beauty

Green Island – Low Isles – Port Douglas

This morning, set sail for the Low Isles, a pair of coral islands surrounded by an exquisite lagoon. Swim with turtles, explore the coral reefs, or take a guided nature walk through the sandy cay, learning about the island’s rich ecosystem.

By mid-afternoon, arrive at Port Douglas, an elegant coastal town known for its boutique shops, fine dining, and stunning beaches. Stroll along the famous Four Mile Beach, where golden sands meet lush palm trees, or enjoy an afternoon cocktail at the stylish Salsa Bar & Grill.

For dinner, indulge in a five-star dining experience at Nautilus Restaurant, hidden within a lush tropical garden, before returning to your yacht for a peaceful night at anchor.

Day 4: Daintree Rainforest & Cape Tribulation – Where the Rainforest Meets the Reef

Port Douglas – Daintree River – Cape Tribulation

Today, immerse yourself in one of the world’s most unique ecosystems: the Daintree Rainforest, the oldest tropical rainforest on Earth.

Your crew arranges a private guided tour through lush jungles, hidden waterfalls, and ancient Indigenous cultural sites. Walk along the suspended canopy boardwalks, spotting cassowaries, tree kangaroos, and rare butterflies.

At Cape Tribulation, where the rainforest meets the reef, enjoy a beachfront lunch before returning to your yacht for a late afternoon sail along the wild and untouched coastline. The serene beauty of this remote region is unlike anything else in the world.

Day 5: Lizard Island – A Secluded Slice of Paradise

Cairns – Lizard Island National Park

Awaken to the sound of the sea as you sail north toward Lizard Island, one of Australia’s most luxurious and remote destinations. With 24 white-sand beaches and stunning coral reefs, this island is the epitome of exclusivity.

Spend the day exploring the island’s hidden coves, snorkeling in the famous Clam Gardens, or taking a scenic hike to Cook’s Lookout, where Captain James Cook once surveyed the reef to find a safe passage.

That evening, enjoy a private beachfront dining experience arranged by your crew, where you can savor a decadent meal under the Milky Way, surrounded by the soothing sounds of the ocean.

Day 6: Spearfishing, Sport Fishing & Remote Reefs

Lizard Island – Ribbon Reefs

For adventure seekers, today offers a thrilling deep-sea fishing or spearfishing experience in the waters surrounding Lizard Island. These waters are famous for black marlin, giant trevally, and Spanish mackerel, providing an exhilarating challenge for anglers.

Alternatively, explore the nearby Ribbon Reefs, known for their pristine coral formations, dramatic underwater walls, and an abundance of marine life. Diving enthusiasts can experience world-renowned dive sites such as Cod Hole, where massive potato cods swim up close in crystal-clear waters.

As the sun sets, enjoy a relaxed evening on board, with fresh seafood on the grill and a stunning view of the horizon stretching endlessly before you.

Day 7: Return to Cairns via Opal Reef

Ribbon Reefs – Opal Reef – Cairns

On your final full day, make one last stop at Opal Reef, a breathtaking section of the Great Barrier Reef where vibrant coral gardens stretch as far as the eye can see. Snorkel alongside clownfish, reef sharks, and dazzling schools of fish, taking in the underwater spectacle that makes this region one of the most extraordinary on the planet.

Enjoy a long, leisurely lunch on deck before setting sail back to Cairns. As you approach the marina, reflect on the unforgettable experiences, pristine landscapes, and moments of pure relaxation that have defined your luxury yacht charter through Northern Queensland.

Disembark in Cairns, feeling rejuvenated and connected to the raw beauty of Australia’s tropical north.
